The dining room is designed to facilitate conversation, reflecting a commitment to the social aspect of sharing a meal. It is a place where the pace of life seems to slow down, allowing guests to engage fully with their surroundings and the company they keep. What Defines the Chleo Experience
Commitment to Seasonal Sourcing: The culinary approach is guided by the availability of fresh, high-quality produce and ingredients sourced from the surrounding Hudson Valley region. By working closely with local suppliers, the kitchen ensures that every dish reflects the current season, resulting in a menu that is dynamic and responsive to the natural harvest cycles.
Atmospheric Design and Comfort: Located in a historic setting, the interior of Chleo has been carefully curated to balance historical charm with modern comfort. The space is intended to be inviting, providing a backdrop that enhances the dining experience without overshadowing the interaction between guests and the food served.
Focus on Culinary Craftsmanship: At the core of the restaurant is a dedication to the fundamentals of cooking. The staff places a high value on precision, balance, and flavor development, ensuring that each plate is a reflection of careful thought and technical skill rather than unnecessary complexity.
Community Integration: Situated on Fair Street, the restaurant serves as a gathering place that honors the spirit of Kingston. By fostering a culture of hospitality that extends beyond the table, Chleo plays an active role in the local community, welcoming both neighbors and travelers into its fold.
The success of an establishment like Chleo lies in its ability to remain consistent while continuously refining its offerings. The attention to detail is evident not only in the preparation of the food but also in the way the service is conducted. Every element, from the initial greeting to the final course, is managed with a level of care that demonstrates a deep understanding of what makes a dining experience memorable. It is this holistic view of hospitality that distinguishes the restaurant, making it a destination for those who value authenticity and a genuine commitment to the culinary arts.
As Kingston continues to grow as a cultural hub, Chleo remains a steady presence, offering a reliable and high-quality option for those seeking a meaningful meal. The restaurant does not strive to be everything to everyone; instead, it focuses on doing a few things exceptionally well. This clarity of purpose is what resonates with patrons and keeps them returning. Awesome atmosphere and great service. Had some pretty delicious plates, but a couple that fell flat. Could have done without the veggie plate but was very happy with the tuna sashimi with cucumber salad and green pappardelle with ricotta … More

Delightful! Best service we've had in a while, coupled with an imaginative menu with plenty of vegetarian options. We shared a few small plates, entrees, deserts and wine and were surprised at the reasonable cost for all of that. Will be back for sure. Too busy enjoying for more photos. More

It’s rare that every dish I order wows me, and I was so pleased that Chleo achieved that!
1. Little Gem Salad, Buttermilk Dressing, Radishes, Toasted Seeds (not pictured) • 9/10
The greens were absolutely gorgeous, and the dressing was perfectly decadent while not being too heavy. My only critique is that I am a lover of seeds and nuts in everything, and it was seeded a little too heavily to the point that every bite was a little bit difficult to chew. This didn’t hinder my experience but it was definitely noticeable,
2. Spaghetti with agretti and anchovy • 10/10
This was so delicious. I had never had agretti before and I asked the waitress what it was, neither of us could quite figure it out even though I was googling it while we were talking. The balance in flavor and texture of this dish was incredible. Anchovy can be so overpowering and it was used perfectly here, just as an addition to the depth of the sauce.
3. Kingston Bread & Bar Sourdough + Cultured butter • 9/10
I will never get over how good this bread is. The crust to soft inside ratio is perfect, and the sourness from the sourdough is just right. My only criticism here is that the bread is $5 and the butter is $2. I understand these are local and well made foods but in my opinion the bread should come with butter. I’d be happy to pay for them as a unit it just seems silly to order a side of butter. This is probably on the menu like this because there are other things you can buy to add to the bread (cheese, pate, etc) but still, the bread should come with butter.
Overall this was a really amazing experience and I’m so excited to come back when I visit Kingston again!

I'd give this restaurant a solid 4 out of 5, comfortably above average. The dishes were expertly cooked overall. My only qualm was that the pork chop had an unexpected popcorn flavor, which wasn't to my liking. Nonetheless, it's a delightful spot for dinner. More
